The Military Academy for Security and Strategic Sciences was established pursuant to Decree No. (47) of 2017 issued by the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces. Its organizational structure and internal regulations were subsequently approved under General Command Decree No. (455) of 2020. The Academy’s Supreme Council was later reconstituted via Decree No. (79) of 2021, and the institution earned formal institutional accreditation through Decree No. (43) of 2021 issued by the Quality Assurance Center (Eastern Region). Headquartered in Benghazi and directly affiliated with the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, the Academy comprises four specialized academic colleges:
- College of Strategic Defense
- College of Security Sciences
- College of Legal Sciences
- College of Applied Sciences
The Academy confers the following academic degrees:
- Master’s Degree (Higher Degree)
- Doctoral Degree (Specialized Degree)
- Honorary Doctorate
